Safest Private Jets

What is the safest private jet you can buy or Charter?

With COVID restrictions largely in the rearview and the world opened back up for travel, we’re all eager to make up for lost time.

Similarly, many of us have become more conscious about the potential health risks of crowded airports, from terrorist attacks, to poorly maintained commercial aircrafts as the industry faces staffing challenges and budget cuts.

In that same line of thought, many customers have questions regarding the safety of private jet travel, asking ‘what is the safest jet in the world’, or ‘what is the safest private plane’ when chartering a flight.

In this guide, we cover some of the safest private jets in the world, as well as some background information on how safe private jet travel really is.

When compared to commercial airlines, how safe are private planes?

There is a common misunderstanding that commercial planes are safer than private planes. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

One might even make the case that private planes are safer than commercial airlines, all thanks to the rigorous inspections they must through before being available for use, and the rigorous specialized training and experience of private jet staff.

If we look at the data from ICAO, we can see that in 2018 there were just 14 private jet accidents (despite a marked increase in flights), whereas commercial accidents totaled 27 that same year (nearly TWICE as many).

Private Jet Safety Myths

Private jet safety is a paramount concern for all jet chartering companies, going above and beyond FAA requirements to ensure their fleets perform flawlessly.

But some people wrongly assume that private aircraft are less secure than commercial flights because they are smaller, and passengers do not have to go through the same security checks required for commercial flights.

In fact, the opposite is true. While private planes are far safer than commercial flights, statistics show that more people have been killed in large commercial flights than on private jets.

Many private jets are also newer and better maintained than commercial airlines’ planes, and their operators follow safety and security standards that go above and beyond those of commercial airlines.

Before scheduling a charter, it is fair to inquire about the safety standards in place, as well as licensure and FAA credential.

Private Jet Best Safety Record

Below we take a look at the private jets with the best safety records to date. All private jets are required to meet the most stringent of safety standards, but these jets also have a lengthy track record of safe flights around the world.

Safest Business Jet

1. Boeing

Boeing is a household name in the aviation industry for good reason: its planes are among the safest in the skies, making them a popular choice for commercial transport.

Boeings are often used by commercial airlines to carry large groups of passengers, but they may also be chartered for individual usage. If you have a big party, are going far, or just want more room, chartering a private Boeing aircraft for your next vacation is a great option. T

he Boeing 767, 787, 777, 737-700, 800, and 900, in particular, have all performed very well in terms of passenger and crew safety. If you’re not sure which type is appropriate for your chartered trip due to the differences in passenger capacity and range, we’d be pleased to talk through the alternatives with you.

2. Airbus

Airbus is extensively utilized by commercial airlines and is among the safest planes on the market, right alongside Boeing. In terms of safety, some of the most impressive jumbo jets on the market are the Airbus A330 and the members of the Airbus 320 family, which also includes the A318, A319, and the A321. Each of these Airbus models has maintained an immaculate safety record, making them ideal for anybody searching for a top-tier private jet option for a lengthy voyage.

3. Bombardier

Business Jet Traveler ranked the Challenger 350 as one of the top super midsize charter planes in 2021. Featuring a broad range of amenities ideal for business travel, this jet was also ranked among those with the best safety standards.

Safest Private Plane – other options

Cessna Citation

When it comes to safety, the Cessna Citation aircraft series is always at the top of the list. In fact, the AIOA Air Safety Institute has certified the Cessna Citation, giving passengers peace of mind no matter where their travels take them.

CJ, CJ1, CJ1+, CJ2, CJ3, CJ4, M2, Citation I, Mustang, Citation II/S/SP, Citation, Bravo,  Encore/Encore+, Citation Ultra, ad Citation V are all models in the Cessna Citation family boasting great safety records.

A Pair of Embraer Jets, the E170 and E190

The Embraer E170 and E190 models may not be as large as the jumbo aircraft that Boeing and Airbus provide, but they nevertheless provide a considerable amount of space for the private flier. Both with stellar safety track records passengers can rely on.

Charter passengers may relax in the knowledge that no incidents have ever been reported on board an Embraer E170 or E190. These planes include double-bubble seating for four, turbofan engines that cut down on engine noise, and quiet takeoffs and landings. The ability to land and take off at airports with stringent noise limits is just one additional perk of this quieter operation.

Other Notable Aircrafts with Stellar Safety Ratings

Although rankings of aircraft manufacturers by safety tend to fluctuate, Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, and Cessna are consistently among the best. But let’s not forget other planes like the ATR, Bombardier, and Concorde, each of which also have great track records of safe flights.

These are but a few examples of the many different types and kinds of aircraft that have received excellent safety ratings. However, this does not rule out the possibility that other airplanes with an equally stellar safety record have been omitted.
