Tulum now has its own international airport. Tulum International / Felipe Carrillo Puerto (TQO / MMTU) opened in December 2023, about 20 km from the hotel zone, and is the fastest way in by private jet — a roughly 20–30 minute drive to the beach. Cancún (CUN) and Cozumel (CZM) remain alternatives depending on availability and where you’re headed. Fly Bitlux arranges the aircraft, FBO, Mexican customs and immigration, and ground transfer end to end, on ARGUS- and Wyvern-rated operators.

There are three ways in by private jet. Which one fits depends on your aircraft, timing, and where you’re staying.
The main gateway, opened December 2023, ~20 km southwest of the Tulum hotel zone. Its single runway is long (~3,700 m / 12,100 ft), so it handles everything from light jets up to heavy and ultra-long-range aircraft, and it has full international customs and immigration for direct arrivals. Dedicated FBO and executive handling operate on the field; we confirm the FBO and slot with your trip. Drive to the beach/hotel zone is about 20–30 minutes — by far the closest option.
The region’s largest airport, ~120 km north, with multiple runways, full customs, and the most private-aviation infrastructure — established FBOs and the widest aircraft availability. It’s the fallback when TQO slots are tight or for repositioning. Drive to Tulum is about 1h30–2h down the highway.
On the island of Cozumel, ~65 km northeast, with a long runway and international customs. It’s the right choice if your trip centers on Cozumel itself or a yacht charter; reaching Tulum means a short ferry from Playa del Carmen plus a drive, so it’s a specialist option rather than the default.
Direct international arrivals clear Mexican customs and immigration at TQO, CUN, or CZM. You’ll complete Mexico’s entry form (the digital FMM) and your operator files APIS passenger data in advance. We handle the FBO, customs coordination, and a private car to your villa or resort — door to beach in roughly half an hour from TQO.

The right aircraft depends on where you’re flying from and your group size. Short US routes suit light and midsize jets; the West Coast and larger groups need heavy cabins.
| Class | Example Aircraft | Passengers | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | Phenom 300, Citation CJ3 | 6–7 | Miami & Florida |
| Midsize | Citation XLS, Hawker 900XP | 7–8 | Texas, Southeast, NYC |
| Super-midsize | Challenger 350, Citation Longitude | 8–9 | Northeast, nonstop range |
| Heavy | Challenger 605, Gulfstream G450 | 10–14 | West Coast, groups |
We match the aircraft to your city pair and passenger count. TQO’s long runway accepts all of these.

Most trips land at TQO and head straight to the beach road or the jungle. Approximate drive times from Tulum International (TQO):
Peak season runs December through April — dry, warm, and busiest (holidays and the winter high season book out villas and FBO slots early). May–June and November are shoulder season with better value. July–October is the warm, humid low season and overlaps Atlantic hurricane season, with occasional sargassum on the beaches. We recommend booking aircraft and ground early for any peak-season or event date.

Yes. Since December 2023, Tulum has its own international airport — Tulum International / Felipe Carrillo Puerto (TQO) — so private jets can fly directly in, clear Mexican customs on arrival, and reach the hotel zone in about 20–30 minutes. Before TQO opened, trips routed through Cancún; that’s still an option, but a direct flight to TQO is now the fastest way in.
Yes. Private flights clear Mexican customs and immigration at an Airport of Entry such as TQO, Cancún (CUN), or Cozumel (CZM). You complete Mexico’s entry form (the digital FMM), your operator files APIS passenger and crew data in advance, and the aircraft needs the usual Mexican entry/landing documentation — all of which we coordinate. A valid passport is required for every passenger.
Roughly $14,000–$22,000 in a light jet, $18,000–$28,000 midsize, and $26,000–$40,000 in a heavy jet. About two hours covers Miami to Tulum (TQO), so a light or midsize jet from South Florida typically lands in this range. Indicative market pricing, not a quote.
Cancún (CUN) pricing is effectively the same as Tulum, since they share the region: from Miami about $14,000–$24,000 on a light or midsize jet; from New York or Teterboro about $28,000–$46,000; from Texas about $20,000–$36,000. With TQO now open, many Cancún-bound travelers headed for Tulum fly straight into TQO instead.
Yes — one of the advantages of flying private. Mexico eased its pet rules: cats and dogs no longer need an import permit, but you should carry a recent veterinary health certificate, and your pet may get a quick inspection by Mexican animal-health authorities (SENASICA) on arrival. Tell us you’re traveling with a pet and we’ll confirm the current requirements and arrange a pet-friendly cabin.
Tulum International (TQO) for the shortest drive to the beach (~20–30 min) and direct international arrival. Cancún (CUN) is the fallback with the most aircraft availability (~1h30–2h drive), and Cozumel (CZM) suits island or yacht trips. We match the airport to your aircraft, timing, and villa.
