Light Jets

Depending on how far you are looking to travel, you will need to charter a jet which suits your specifications. For short trips of around 1500 miles, you should look at small cabin/light jets. These typically hold up to 7 people with luggage allocations. If you are looking to charter a private jet from Lima to Fort Lauderdale, or jet from Lima to Chicago, then a light jet may be your best option. Some of the Light jets available for Lima charter are the Hawker 400XP, Citation CJ3, and Citation Ultra.

Mid-size Jets

For longer flights, a midsize cabin is required. These jets in Lima are more comfortable than a small jet and can fly between many U.S states nonstop, with a passenger capacity of 8. Midsizes, like the Hawker 800XP, Citation Excel, or Learjet 60, are great for a fair distance and comfortable on jet charters that are 2 hours or more – such as, Lima to Denver or Houston to Lima.

Super-midsize Jets

For longer domestic trips or intercontinental air charter, such as Lima to Los Angeles, or even Seattle to Lima. we suggest super midsize jet, such as the Challenger 300 or Hawker 1000. These are designed for longer domestic flights and even light transatlantic travel, with a typical passenger capacity of 9 people.

Large Jets

Lastly, if you are looking to a private jet charter from Lima to Shanghai, or other International destinations, then a Heavy cabin jet or Ultra Long Range is required. These heavy cabin and ultra-long range jets are the pinnacle of luxury in private travel. With a passenger capacity of 16, these heavy jets can get you from one place to another in style, perfect for transoceanic travel.

If you are a traveling in a large group for business, then it is advised that you look towards the large cabin or heavy cabin jets. Some examples of Heavy and Ultra Long Range charter jets are the Falcon 2000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7x, and Challenger 604/605.

About Lima

Lima was well regarded as the largest and most important city during the Spanish regime. Its historic center has since been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking around Lima’s Plaza Mayor, it almost feels like going back in time. Visit La Cathedral de Lima, Archbishop’s Palace, City Hall, and Peru’s Presidential Palace. The Plaza de Armas encircles itself around a beautiful fountain and garden that shines in the summer months. The city is filled with museums, incredible restaurants, and exciting neighborhoods.

Lima is nicely situated near Machu Picchu and the Nazca Lines, both easily accessible by private jet charter.

The stepping-off point for a trip to Machu Picchu is Cusco, located high in the Andes and just over an hour by charter flight. From there, take the luxury Hiram Bingham train to the small town of Aguas Calientes before embarking on the quick ride to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Many tour operators are available to plan every detail on your behalf. www.tourinperu.com/machupicchu-tours/hiram-bingham-luxury-train-tour

South of Lima, the Nazca Lines are best viewed by plane, and what better way to see them than in your chartered private jet? The Nazca Lines are a collection of designs in the ground that are only to be experienced by air. The enormous geoglyphs were dug into the soil more than a thousand years ago. While some images are geometric shapes, others form the shape of a hummingbird, a fish, and a monkey.

Spanish is widely spoken in Lima, though, in the touristy areas, most people will speak at least some English. Lima’s time zone is GMT-5. Peru does not observe daylight savings time.

Weather In Lima

Summer is from January through March, and that’s definitely the best time to visit, particularly for those wishing to stay along the beach. Temperatures generally stay around 80 degrees or higher. The peak travel time is December through April, from mid-summer to fall. Visiting between June and October is far less crowded but also is the coldest around Lima, with temperatures in the high 50s through 60s.

The area is often humid even in the winter months and is often cloudy in the winter months. In the summer the days are warm and sunny, an ideal time to visit. It rarely rains in Lima; the city averages only 13 days of rainfall each year.

Luxury Hotels In Lima

The best places to stay in Lima are the surrounding neighborhoods, particularly San Isidro, Miraflores, or Barranco. All three areas are within walking distance of one another and are approximately a ten to thirty-minute drive from Lima’s historic center. San Isidro holds the commercial district of Lima and is where most business travelers stay. Miraflores is widely known for its upscale shopping and gourmet restaurants, as well as its close proximity to the coast. Barranco, also situated along the coast, is far more bohemian than the others. Wander the neighborhood to find a multitude of murals and street art around almost every corner. Several gourmet restaurants have relocated to this up and coming area.

Some of the most luxurious hotels in Lima include:

  • Country Club Lima Hotel in San Isidro
  • Hotel de Autor I or II, both in Miraflores

Fine Dining In Lima

The most popular dish in Peru is ceviche. Known around the world as Peruvian sushi, it is diced fish with lemon and cilantro. Antichuchos, skewered meat or grilled beef heart, are also popular. One of the most traditional foods is Aji de Gallina. This chicken stew made with rice, boiled egg, and milk varies at each restaurant but is delicious every time. Papas a la Huancaina is another traditional food made from cream, peppers, and cheese blended together and served as a sauce over potatoes. Cuy is an item often found on Peruvian menus; it’s more commonly known as Guinea pig. Don’t be surprised if you’re asked whether you’d like the head on or off when it’s served.

Of course, any trip to Peru wouldn’t be complete without sampling the local drink, a Pisco Sour. The cocktail is made from Pisco, a brandy from the winemaking regions of Peru. The mixture has been described as similar to a margarita with its sweet and sour mix but with a lighter taste.

Best gourmet restaurants in and around Lima:
